International Research Collaboration – UNTAN and Laboratory GEPEA, Université de Nantes, St. Nazaire, France
Universitas Tanjungpura as one of the partner organizations is seconding back lecturer from Marine Science Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Ikha Safitri during 5 months (March–August 2018), in the laboratory of GEPEA (GEnie des Procédés Environnement–Agroalimentaire) Université de Nantes, Saint Nazaire–France, with the supervisors Prof. Jérémy PRUVOST and Mrs. Vona MELEDER. In this opportunity, she works together with doctoral student (3rd year) Rémi NGHIEM-XUAN.
The objective of this second mobility of the GHaNA (Genus Haslea, New marine resources for blue biotechnology and Aquaculture) project is “intensification of the culture Haslea ostrearia using airlift photobioreactors (PBRs) during continuous mode”, to optimize the productivity record and to identify the optimum growth conditions (light, temperature, pH, addition of micro-elements, dilution rate, N, P, and Si sources). We observe the cell growth, extracellular marennine (EMn) concentration, pigments (chl a, c, and carotenoids), and dry weight biomass.
Several experiments are conducted with different light (50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, and 400 µmolphoton/m2/s), temperature (16, 20, 22, and 25°C), pH (6, 7.8, 8.3, and 9), dilution rate (0.1 and 0.2). On the other hand , for the experiment of micro-elements (Ca, Mg, B, Sr, and others), we conduct using “flasques” with different concentrations for each micro-elements during 8 days, 17°C, 350 µmolphoton/m2/s, and 14h/10h L/D cycle.
J’espère que cette collaboration scientifique entre UNTAN et les universités en EUROPE, surtout en France pourrait bien se passer et il y aura d’autre coopération dans la future. Bon courage et bonne continuation !
With science, we have the power to change the world … (ikha)
